Note
DATE 1890 PLAC Pupil at Tutaenui School This family was disfunctional. Mable left all the children excepting Walter with Joe. The actual date is not known but it was after the death of Arthur and shortly after Melville started school. This breach was never healed and was made worse as Mable died while Walter was serving overseas during W.W.2 Walter lived with his mother and found when he returned that the house which had been left to him had been let unfurnished. He never found what had happened to her personal things which he thought should have been hers. His things which were still in the house had been put in boxes in the ceiling of the rented house. Right up until his death Walter stayed estranged from his family. Walter lived in Marton and Melville his younger brother lived in Hunterville. They were both active members of the Returned Services Association. Melville was elected to a management position in Marton and Walter immediately resigned from the Marton Branch and joined Wanganui Branceh His neice who lived in the same town as Walter didn't know that he had died until some weeks later. Sad that the last two living should be so alienated from each other. The rift between the mother and the older girls was healed as stories had it that one of the two older girls got pregnant very young and she was hidden in her mother's house in Marton while she was pregnant. Selina Meads eldest daughter of Bob Meads used to visit her. Noted later Rata School records . Next of kin for Walter Voyce was Joe Voyce. The next of kin for Esmond and Arthur was Mrs W Meads !!!! All we can say for sure is that it was a dysfunctional family. 1 _FA2 2 DATE 1890 2 PLAC Pupil at Tutaenui School
